Story Exploratory Anti-Harassment Policy and Code of Conduct
Story Exploratory has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for harassment of any kind, including but not limited to: stalking, intimidation, offensive verbal comments, physical assault and/or battery, harassing or non-consensual photography or recording, sustained disruption of programs (classes, intensives, any and all events in-person or online), bathroom policing, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome physical attention, in relation to, but not limited to: race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, gender presentation, sexual orientation, age, body size, disability, appearance, religion, citizenship, pregnancy.
If a person engages in harassing behavior, Story Exploratory Staff will take prompt action in any form they deem appropriate, including expulsion from any and all Story Exploratory events.
Harassment does not include respectful disagreement or reasonable and respectful critique made in good faith. Story Exploratory continues to welcome and appreciate presentation of controversial ideas, free speech, and creative artistic expression–in-person and online.
Code of Conduct
All participants in Story Exploratory events and activities, including staff, volunteers, and attendees, are required to comply with the following anti-harassment code of conduct. Story Exploratory Anti-Harassment Policy prohibits harassment, including but not limited to the following behaviors:
If you witness a crime or have an emergency that requires the police, please call 911.
Remember: Keep your hands to yourself. If you would like to take a picture with or of a staff member or other participant, always ask first and respect that person’s right to say no.
Sanctions
Story Exploratory takes all allegations of harassment seriously. After a report is investigated by Story Exploratory with or without the involvement of outside authorities, sanctions may be enacted.
Sanctions for speakers, volunteers, and staff may include any of the following:
Confidentiality
Story Exploratory will make every reasonable effort to conduct all investigations into allegations of harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in a manner that will protect the confidentiality of all parties. Notwithstanding the above, confidentiality is not absolute, and those with a legitimate business reason to know and be informed of the allegations will be so informed. Parties to the complaint should treat the matter under investigation with discretion and respect the reputation of all parties involved.

Refund Policy
All Story Exploratory workshops are nonrefundable and nontransferable to another class. Occasionally, a class may be canceled due to extreme weather conditions or other acts of God. We will make every effort to offer makeup sessions when possible, but no refunds will be granted in any case. All classes and dates are subject to change and cancellation. Story Exploratory cannot be responsible for providing refunds or offering makeup sessions for classes missed as a result of students’ illnesses, emergencies or events beyond the students’ control. You may transfer your attendance to another writer. Please contact [email protected].
Online Workshop Policy
Online workshops are taught in real time and recorded via Zoom. This allows for interaction in the moment and makes our workshops accessible to writers across the world. We invite you to do your best to make it to the online workshop to be able to participate in real time. Workshop recordings will be uploaded to YouTube and made available to Walking on Sunshine Tier patrons via Patreon. All details and logistics will be shared via Patreon prior to the online workshop.
Story Exploratory Photo and Film Release
Story Exploratory regularly takes pictures during events and records online workshops that we post to social media that includes but is not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as well as our website, Patreon, and YouTube.
Privacy Policy
Personal Data
Personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data. Identification can be by the information alone or in conjunction with any other information in the data controller’s possession or likely to come into such possession. The processing of personal data is governed by [the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (the “GDPR”)1] in the European Union.

– To promote writers’ workshops and programs
– To share resources with you– to inform members of our community of news, workshops, programs, and services
– To maintain contact information for management of any of our activities
– To manage records and enrollments in workshops

Explicit consent of the data subject. We process your personal data to tell you about events, news, and services of Story Exploratory.
There is no disclosure to a third person or party without consent.
Sharing your personal data
Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential. We will NOT share your data with third parties without your consent.
We will keep your personal data as long as you wish to continue being a member of the Story Exploraotry community. If you are no longer active in community either by logging on or opening emails, we reserve the right to delete your information after 12-24 months.
Your rights and your personal data
-The right to request a copy of your personal data which Story Exploratory holds about you.
-The right to request that the Story Exploratory corrects any personal data if it is found to be inaccurate or out of date.
-The right to request your personal data is erased where it is no longer necessary for Story Exploratory to retain such data.
-The right, where there is a dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal data, to request a restriction is placed on further processing.
-The right to object to the processing of personal data, (where applicable).
-The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioners Office.
Further processing
If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, not covered by this Data Protection Notice, then we will provide you with a new notice explaining this new use prior to commencing the processing and setting out the relevant purposes and processing conditions. Where and whenever necessary, we will seek your prior consent to the new processing.

- Denial of access to Story Exploratory workshops on a permanent or temporary basis.
Confidentiality
Story Exploratory will make every reasonable effort to conduct all investigations into allegations of harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in a manner that will protect the confidentiality of all parties. Notwithstanding the above, confidentiality is not absolute, and those with a legitimate business reason to know and be informed of the allegations will be so informed.
